    The illiteracy rate among the million inhabitants of the Arab world is still high, although it is decreasing in some countries. Until re- cently, 70 percent of the adult population was illiterate. The illiteracy of a large part of the Arab world hampers development of book industry, since it circumscribes the book market. Financial Development in Arab Countries, held in Abu Dhabi, during 31 March – 2 April , in collaboration with the College of Business and Economics, University of United Arab Emirates. The book provides fruitful policy recommendations on various financial development issues in the Arab world such as operational efficiency.

      The pandemic driven lockdowns have triggered worldwide growth of unemployment, hunger, homelessness and poverty. The speed of economic descent in world economy is extraordinary.
